Long Overdue Post on OZIO’s- LUNG CANCER CLUB, NW, DC

I typically receive a million facebook invites and e-mails about upcoming events at “The Club” or Lounge in DC.  More times than not I am not able or interested in heading out to the event.  One thing that really makes me ANGRY is when I start receiving junk from promoters that I know I didn’t subscribe to.

For example, Ozio’s- CIGAR BAR. . .

According to Ozio’s website their “first two floors have textured walls with warm hues and are adorned with murals of classic film stars.  The third floor features Georgia O’Keefe reproductions while the fourth floor displays more abstract paintings.  OZIO also offers a smoke-free dining room with banquets.”

The language from Ozio’s promotional e-mail is an absolute gem—

In addition to our kickoff event, this week also serves as an invitation networking soiree for the industry professionals and staff of area universities to 1813 M St. NW.  Congratulations to American University and Howard University graduate/professional schools and Alumni! Nestled just 3 blocks from Farragut North metro and 6 minutes from Georgetown, Ozio Restaurant & Lounge is four levels of an unparalleled event and your absolute answer to the mundane and monotonous city social scene.  Mingle among like-minded individuals in an upscale atmosphere.

  1. “Mingle among like-minded individuals in an upscale atmosphere”— Um No.  Most of my friends tend to avoid places that are blatantly hazardous to their health.
  2. According the American Cancer Society-Inhaling cigar smoke is not required for someone to become addicted to nicotine; oral membranes directly absorb the nicotine in cigars whether the cigar is smoked or just held in the mouth.
  3. The environmental tobacco smoke produced by cigars is a major source of indoor air pollution and poses a hazard for people who work in establishments where cigar smoking is encouraged, such as cigar bars and other special cigar events.

So I ask you WHY would anyone submit themselves to such a horrific experience?  Trust me when I say .. . . “ON to the NEXT!!!”
