Dear readers, please be patient with me I decided to give the “posting by mobile phone” a whirl.
I can’t exactly remember if it was a month or more ago when I noticed the sign from Wanda’s salon had moved but soon after seeing the sign at Wanda’s a lot of activity began. A fence was place around the vacant lot by the metro, loud banging noises started and this morning I walked through scaffolding on 7th Street. I read on the LeDroit Park listserv that apartments are being built as well as the United Negro College Fund will also be on the same block. It will be interesting to see the changes but even more interesting the opinions from surrounding neighbors. “My” kids that used to hang out on the block have already left— I wonder who else might leave?
