for the 2011 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
What: Please bring gently used clothes and non-perishable food items throughout the day.
Please volunteer your time by helping students sort clothes and food to be transported to local non-profits in need.
The Howard University Community Association Project C.H.A.N.G.E. community service initiative, will facilitate the Fifth Annual M.L.K. Day of National Service on our campus honoring Dr. King’ legacy of community, service and unity.
This year we will return to our efforts to help people in need with a clothing and (non-perishable) food drive to benefit important community based organizations that help people in need year round.
This annual effort brings together hundreds of Howard University students and staff to service.
Howard University’s WHUR-9.3 FM Radio is promoting this important event throughout the metropolitan area.
The Howard University and metropolitan community will be invited to donate gently used clothing and non-perishable food.
The Howard University College of Medicine will be transformed into a donations receiving center, where student volunteers will work all day at receiving, sorting and transporting donations to organizations serving homeless and low-income individuals / families.
Public school children and families have been invited to come and celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Heart of America Foundation which promotes literacy for children, will partner with H.U. Project C.H.A.N.G.E. on location, welcoming children and families with educational activities and free books !
